4 Secrets to Prevent You From Overeating

Overeating can be a problem for many people as it can sabotage your diet. Resisting the temptations of a late night snack or eating serving sizes that are too large has proven to be an issue for those following a diet at one point or another.

For some, emotional eating can be one of your biggest enemies as you eat everything in sight. I have seen people who do this and it does not turn out good for their waist size in the long run.

Through my years of experience, I feel that there are 4 tips that can be used by anybody to help prevent overeating. These 4 tips are as follows:

Water Helps Prevent Being Over Weight1. Drink Plenty of Water

The great thing about water is that it does not have any calories in it. You can drink as much as you would like and not gain fat weight. If you are like most, you find yourself wanting to munch on some foods late at night or even throughout your day.

This tactic however has never failed to help me every time I begin to feel like eating more than my daily macronutrient requirement. I simply drink water and surprisingly enough my hunger cravings begin to go away. While your daily water requirement is your bodyweight times 0.66, nothing prevents you from being able to drink more.

4 Secrets to Prevent Overeating - Eat Fiber

2. Include Fibers in Your Diet

One of my biggest secrets to combat overeating is to include fibers in my diet. Eating such foods as green beans, broccoli or a salad are great choices that will allow you to prevent any overeating. The reason for this is because of a hormone known as cholecystokinin.

Cholecystokinin is a hormone found in your intestines that when released sends a message to your brain allowing it to feel as if you have been fed. I have used this tactics for my evening meals and it has definitely helped me from overeating or attacking the kitchen for a late night snack.

4 Secrets to prevent Overeating - Sleeping

3. Get a Good Night Sleep

Rest is extremely important. Without rest, cortisol skyrockets and this causes a variety of problems that will impede weight loss. Regardless of whether you are trying to lose weight or just maintain a healthy lifestyle, getting the right amount of rest is simply necessary. We may not realize it, but when we do not get enough sleep, we are more likely to get food cravings.

Although eating something high in carbohydrates will give you a quick burst of energy, it will soon fade away and you will be back to square one in no time. In addition, if you are sleep deprived your glucose will not function as efficiently and your immune system will begin to break down which means you are more susceptible to getting sick.

4 Secrets to Prevent Overeating - Eating on a Regular Basis

4. Eat On a Regular Schedule

It baffles me how many people to not realize how important it is to eat on a regular basis. Not only will it allow you to decrease your body fat if you make the right food choices in every meal, but it will also prevent you from overeating. The reason for this is because your body begins to adjust to the timing of your meals. You will be able to control your cravings and the amount of food you put in your mouth much easier this way.

I never believed in this concept until I gave it a try. Now, I can honestly say that frequent meals spaced out every three hours are a weapon of mass destruction in the war against that unwanted belly fat.

So the next time you feel the urge to splurge and break your diet, try following these tips to prevent overeating. They have worked for me and I know they will work for you!
